VEERAKEAT TONGPAIBOON is one of the most highly regarded contemporary painters of the streets of San Francisco. Since he arrived in the early '90s from his native Thailand, he has received wide praise for his ability to capture the edgy energy of The City. He has been painting since he was 10 years old, winning three international competitions even as a teenager. Encouraged by his family to follow a more practical path, he took his degree in design and first worked with his brother, a Bangkok architect. In 1992 he came to San Francisco to live and work and further his education. He received his MFA degree at the Academy of Art in 1994 and has been a fulltime painter since.
